Kilmore Quay Boat Club

Kilmore Quay Boat Club was founded in the summer of 2001 by a group of sailors who operate out of Kilmore Quay Marina in Co. Wexford, Ireland.

The first Commodore was Jackie Connick, followed by Ivan Sutton, Des Walsh and Ray Bates which led up to the start of the 2017 season. John Crowe  has stepped into the role as Commodore from the start of 2017 taking on the responsibilities of keeping the fleet and all its skippers and crews on the straight and narrow.

The Club is for all sorts of boats, be they sail or motor, and we organise six cruises each year. It is unique among clubs in the country in so far that it has no club house or assets, except for a few racing marks. It uses the facilities of local hosteliaries for club meetings and get-togethers and functions. It’s founding members decided  not to charge a yearly membership but opted instead for lifetime membership which worked quite well for a time.  If the club had a shortfall to cover the yearly running cost, members could give a voluntary contribution to balance it’s yearly outgoings. With membership at a all time high, it’s new Commodore  at the helm and with  deliberation with the clubs Management Team it was agreed to opt for a  new yearly membership fee €30.00 per member.  Membership fees are due at the start of each season in April.

The Club runs six Cruises each season. All  visiting Yacht Skippers must become  members of the Club if they want to participate in any of the cruises and pay a entry fee of €20.00.  Their  Yacht details must be submitted when becoming a member so  that handicaps can be agreed .  Entry into any of the cruises is another way in which  the Club is able to raise much needed funds to help with the daily running of the Club. The Club insignia as can be seen in the background of any of the pages on this site, it has as it’s flag a tricolour in the top left quarter of a purple flag, with the distinctive Church of the village in gold on the body of the flag.

Any visiting mariner to the marina is entitled to seek membership of the club and he or she can visit our membership page on the website. Commodore John Crowe in January 2018 undertook to launch this website to help it’s members and visiting mariners  enjoy their time on the sea, Kilmore Quay and its modern Marina. Feel free to use the contact details on the site at any time for further information or help.
