Kilmore Quay boat club was founded in the summer of 2001 by a loose grouping of sailors, or some people say a grouping of loose sailors!!!, who operate out of Kilmore Quay marina in Co. Wexford in Ireland. It's first commodore was Jackie Connick, followed by Ivan Sutton and led at present by Des Walsh. The club is for all sorts of boat, be they sail or motor, and organises five races each year. It is unique among boat clubs in the country in that it has no club house or assets, except for a few racing marks. It uses the facilities of local hosteliaries for club meetings and get togethers and functions. It is also unique among clubs that it has as one of the few articles in it's constitution that it can't charge a yearly membership fee and that when a member signs up, it gives a lifetime membership. A member can give a voluntary contribution at any time during their membership, and as often as they want, but is under no obligation to do so. Entry to one of the races is seen as one way to make such a contribution. The club ensign is as can be seen in the background of any of the pages on this site, and has as it's flag, a tricolour in the top left quarter of a purple flag, with the distinctive Church in the village in gold on the body of the flag. Any visiting mariner to the marina is entitled to seek membership and any member of the club will endevour to get a membership form for those that want one. At the AGM of the club in late October 2009, the club decided to launch this website to help it's members and visiting mariners in enjoying their time on the sea in and around the harbour. Feel free to use the contact details on the site at any time for further information or help.
